About Marie

A founder of P2 Public Affairs, Marie Sanderson is a public affairs expert with insights driven by over a decade of experience in policy research, messaging, and strategy at the state.

She served as Policy Director for the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and was the nomination “Sherpa” for Ambassador Nikki Haley, guiding her nomination through the U.S. Senate.

Previously, Marie served as the Policy Director for the Republican Governors Public Policy Committee (RGPPC), working with Governors, Chiefs of Staff, and their policy teams to facilitate and advocate for policy best practices. Marie also served on Capitol Hill as Legislative Assistant and Deputy Press Secretary for Senator Thad Cochran and as Policy Director to former Governor Haley Barbour.

Marie graduated summa cum laude from Mississippi State University. In 2002, she was awarded a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to Brisbane, Australia, where she obtained her Master of Business Administration from the University of Queensland.
