P2 Public Affairs Adds Top Republican Strategist and Former Pence Advisor Marc Short

WASHINGTON, DC (December 7, 2023) – P2 Public Affairs today announced the addition of Marc Short as Senior Advisor. As former Legislative Director for President Donald Trump, Short has a deep understanding of the legislative process and will be a great benefit to P2 clients. Short is a regular guest on CNN, NBC, and Fox News.

Short joins P2 after serving as Senior Advisor to former Vice President Mike Pence’s 2024 presidential campaign and as Chairman of the Board of Advancing American Freedom (AAF), which was launched in April 2021 by Pence. Short previously served as Chief of Staff to the vice president beginning in March 2019 after initially serving as Director of Legislative Affairs for former President Trump from January 2017 to July 2018. Short was also the first president of Freedom Partners, a nonprofit and 501(c)(6) network of donors associated with Charles and David Koch.

Short began his career working for Lt. Col. Oliver North (R-Va.) in his 1994 campaign for the U.S. Senate before serving as spokesperson and executive director of the Freedom Alliance, a nonprofit organization that promotes policies that strengthen national defense and supports members of the military and veterans. Short then served as the executive director of Young America’s Foundation (YAF), a nonprofit that provides conservative seminars, internships, and educational materials for young people. Short also worked as spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and chief of staff for Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson before first aiding then-U.S. Rep. Mike Pence in 2008.

Short holds a BA from Washington and Lee University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
